I have been riding WD's Savage off and on for a couple of years now. We went wish-shopping the other day and I test-sat a V-Star 650 Classic. Nice bike, felt a bit heavy to me, but I want it anyway.
But that's not what I wanted to tell you. THIS is what I wanted to tell you:
Motorcycles are a lot like horses. They *know* when you're scared of them, and they'll dump you in a heartbeat.
I'm not making this up: it's all in the way you ride. If you're scared, you're stiff and you won't be able to control the bike with ease and comfort.
As to keeping/selling the V-star, it's your call: the bike depreciated a lot the minute you drove it off the lot, and it will only continue to depreciate (WD says: it is highly unlikely that this bike will
ever appreciate in value, it's Japanese, there's not really much of a collector market for them, and if I were in your shoes, I'd go ahead and sell it now).
So I guess what I'm really trying to say is, whatever you get, get something you're comfortable with. Being timid is OK, it's expected when you're a new rider, but being
terrified is a whole 'nother story.
Good luck and ride safe,
-Lisa
